Child After a Year and a Half
At the age of 18 months, a child changes completely. At this time, a child becomes more independent and develops his own character. Sometimes a child may at this age become noisy and annoying, and it would be pretty useful to know how to deal with such behavior. The following guidelines may prove useful:
1. From the very beginning, write a list of rules and decide what is right and what is wrong, and what is acceptable and can be tolerated and what is not. Further, associate some form of reward or punishment with each behavior.
2. Introduce rules gradually and be consistent with those rules, as this reinforces them in his mind and gives him a strong sense of what is right and what is wrong.
3. Give more attention to good behavior, and praise good behavior with some emphasis, and try to minimize lectures on bad behavior. Further, don’t let small initiatives of good behavior go unnoticed.
4. When you see bad behavior, don’t hit. Your child may adopt hitting as acceptable. Instead, explain to your child why he should or shouldn’t do something, and remind him of the rules.
